May 17, 2008 (Saturday): "Hands-On" Fix-It Day - Hosted by Cliff Oie's KMA Garage in South Elgin, Illinois. This is always an educational event even for spectators. Contact Cliff at www.NivaClub.org for reservations and directions.

May 31-June 1, 2008, (Saturday-Sunday): "FUNFEST 2008" at the Mid America Motorworks in Effingham, Illinois. This huge 2-day event features a 1,200-car all-VW car show, tech sessions, museum display, helicopter rides and Saturday road cruise (it's back!). Register in advance for free admission by calling 1-800-588-2844 and you will receive a free T-shirt, event poster and lapel pin while supplies last. Don't miss this one! There will be a caravan to and from Effingham originating in the western Chicago suburbs on Friday, May 30, if you are interested. Contact Kris Oie for more info.


June 7-8, 2008 (Saturday-Sunday): The 21st Michigan Vintage Volkswagen Festival Riverside Park in beautiful and historic Ypsilanti, MI. Weekend attractions include vintage Hudson dealership, an antique fire house museum, Saturday evening banquet with speakers and automotive demonstrations and, of course, the huge air-cooled VW show & Swap Meet with raffles and door prizes on Sunday. June 29, 2008 (Sunday): Bugfest 2008, sponsored by the Northeast Illinois Volkswagen Association (NIVA) and hosted by Fox Valley Volkswagen, 560 W. North Avenue (just west of Routes 59 & 64), West Chicago, Illinois. Registration for show cars, 9:00 am-12 noon is $10; Swap spaces, $25 each with set-up starting at 7:00 am. Spectator admission is always free. One of NIVA's largest events marking its second year in its new spacious location. All models of Volkswagen are welcome to the Show-and-Swap Meet event. July 6, 2008 (Sunday): Bartlett (Illinois) Independence Day Parade - VW Club participation makes this annual event a real blast! We'll gather the 'Wagens and caravan to the parade staging area as a group. Contact Pam or Kirk Schulz at (630) 837-7887 for times, details and to let them know you're coming.

July 12, 2008 (Saturday): 53rd Annual VWCA Convention, hosted by the VW Club of Sheboygan in Sheboygan, Wisconsin - the Bratwurst Capital of the World. Featured is the Volksbraten Car Show and Swap Meet including live entertainment, music and food vendors. Location is Motorville Volkswagen, 5515 Racetrack Road, Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Watch for registration information as plans are finalized.

Other activities include VWCA's Annual Membership Meeting and presentation of the national awards. The headquarters hotel is the Sleep Inn & Suites, 3912 Motel Road, Sheboygan, WI 53081. July 20, 2008 (Sunday): Stateline Volksfolks Vintage Picnic & VW Show #21 at Alpine Park in Rockford, IL. Registration 9 am to 12 noon; one-of-a-kind trophies awarded at 3 pm. Bring your lunch and a cooler. Sorry, no food for sale in the park this year. This is Stateline Volksfolks' premier annual event. For questions contact Tom Janiszewski or call (815) 206-0407.

July 26, 2008 (Saturday): Summer Picnic and Bonfire at the Nichol's Estate in Roscoe, IL. This is a combined event with the Northeast Illinois Volkswagen Association (NIVA) and Stateline Volksfolks (Rockford, IL chapter). Contact Pam Schulz, (630) 837-7887 for latest details and directions.


August 3, 2008 (Sunday): 17th Annual Vintage Transportation Extravaganza at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Illinois. Open to all vehicles 15 years old or older, this event draws over 700 vehicles to the Museum grounds. Registration on show day is $10 per car & passengers. Pre-register and save $5; call Mike Wende, (262) 697-7474 evenings 5pm to 9pm for pre-registration form. The first 700 display vehicles receive a dash plaque and driver and passengers receive free train ride tickets for the day of the show. You won't find a better bargain than this! Watch for registration information and caravans to the event.

August 16, 2008 (Saturday): The 8th Annual Car Show & Swap Meet presented by the Old Fort VW Club of Fort Wayne, Indiana. The event is held in Shoaff Park, 6401 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and features door prizes, a raffle, music and food vendors. Registration closes at noon. Spectator admission is free; $15 per show car; $15 per swap space. To register, contact Scott Simon or call (260) 637-2398.

August 30 - September 1, 2008 (Labor Day Weekend): Buses Nowhere Near the Arch Annual Campout in Hannibal, MO - Lots of fun, contact Gary Hanson or (630) 325-4671 for more info. If you own a Bus, this is where you must go every Labor Day!


September 6, 2008, (Saturday): Annual Route 66 Car Show, Berwyn, Illinois. Contact Larry Ohler (708) 749-3198 for complete details and times.

September 6, 2008 (Saturday): NIVA's Annual SuperDawg Invasion on Chicago's North Side - We again invade the SuperDawg Drive-In for dinner and possibly a cruise afterward. Contact Pam & Kirk Schulz, (630) 837-7887 for latest info.

September 21, 2008 (Sunday): NIVA's "VW-FEST 2008" - Northern Illinois' Largest All-VW Car Show and Swap Meet at Anderson VW, 360 N. Rt. 31 in Crystal Lake, IL. Registration for show cars, 9:00 am-12 noon is $10; Swap spaces, $25 each with set-up starting at 7:00 am. Spectator admission is always free.
